about

There's a jarring, sudden immediacy about the beginning and the end of a love affair. It comes without warning, and when it goes, we're often the last to know. "Stay" is a reflection on how quickly things can turn - before we even know we're in love or that love's been lost, we are helpless. So in that golden hour before it's too late, is there time for one last argument for love? Can the last vapor of what was be enough to reignite a flame? Stay with me, one more night. Stay with me, we'd make it right. I believe in love. It always perseveres.

lyrics

WHAT WAS THE LAST MOMENT THAT WE SHARED?
WORDS I DON’T REMEMBER STILL HANG THICK IN THE AIR
DID I PLAY YOUR HEART ON A BROKEN STRING
IN A TEMPO OUT OF TIME?

WHAT WERE THE FIRST WORDS I HEARD YOU SAY?
DO YOU THINK I MEANT TO EVER LOVE YOU THIS WAY?
BEFORE A SIMPLE TOUCH WAS EVERYTHING
NOW INSTEAD YOU TURN AWAY
WHY DON’T YOU ASK ME TO

STAY WITH ME, ONE MORE NIGHT
IF ONLY I COULD HEAR YOU SAY YOU’D
STAY WITH ME, WE’D MAKE IT RIGHT, I KNOW
THE ONLY THING WE HAVE TO FEAR
IS THE DAWN AS THE NIGHT TURNS TO DAY;
WON’T YOU JUST ASK ME TO STAY?

DON’T YOU REMEMBER JUST HOW HARD WE TRIED?
LIVING OFF OUR LOVE WAS ALL I NEEDED TO SURVIVE
AFTER THIS BROKEN HEART, THE MEMORY
MAY BE ALL THAT’S LEFT, SO I PRAY
WHY DON’T YOU ASK ME TO

STAY WITH ME, ONE MORE NIGHT
IF ONLY I COULD HEAR YOU SAY YOU’D
STAY WITH ME, WE’D MAKE IT RIGHT, I KNOW
THE ONLY THING WE HAVE TO FEAR
IS THE DAWN AS THE NIGHT TURNS TO DAY;
WON’T YOU JUST ASK ME
WON’T YOU PLEASE ASK ME ...

WHAT WERE THE FIRST WORDS I HEARD YOU SAY?
DO YOU THINK I MEANT TO EVER LOVE YOU THIS WAY?
AFTER THE SILENT TEARS ARE SHED AND GONE
AND THERE’S NO MORE WORDS TO SAY
WHY DON’T YOU ASK ME...
