I wrote this song for my youngest son, Theron. I was in an airport at the time of his birth, getting text updates every so often from my wife; then after some time had passed, the first pictures of the Drs cleaning up our new little baby. I was distant, and I couldn't quiet the sound of the wheels on the highway long enough to have that intimate imprint between a parent and their newborn...not until some months later. I thought about the contrast between Quinn's first year - the home we had spent so many years trying to make perfect for his arrival - and Theron's first year, with me checking in a couple of days during the week before setting off for another series of shows. My brilliantly beautiful infant son, seeing the back of his father's head as I walked out the door every week. At my keyboard late one night this song developed, and the melody was all the love and regret I had for my new little boy, a quiet prelude to a life I swore I would never take for granted. It was the perfect intro to "This Is Your Life," a pair of unconditional love songs from a father to his sons.

A criminally underrated album of a criminally underrated and underexposed genre. The production values here are so authentically 1980s. A good balance of traditional hard rock, synths, and strong melodies, with a spooky yet nostalgic feel, with the songs carefully curated for a strong experience start to finish. For those lonely nights, stuck in your bedroom, reminiscing days gone by: listen to this. cosmopolis
