I've always identified with the strong and independent woman archetype, and they've often appeared in my songs. "Every Little Thing" explores a loneliness inherent in that independence, but also the comfort we can find in the familiar. The stars may not burn that bright in your neck of the woods, but at least they're your stars, and it's your woods. There are times in our lives when we just have to find strength in what we know best, and there's times that challenge us to use that strength. On a quiet night, beneath a big clear sky, someone looks up and hopes for something more, yet still finds peace in what they have.
